Free Vintage Image

Hi Everyone,
I hope you've had a wonderful week. It's been terribly stormy and rainy around here. I apologize to anyone who has tried to access the web site this week. I took the server down just about every afternoon because of the weather. On Wednesday, we lost power about 5 times and had surges 3 more times. I was so thankful that I'd shut everything down or I'm sure I'd still be restoring the PCs today.

We had 7 to 11 inches of rain depending on where you were located in the city. On one afternoon alone, we received 2 to 5 inches in a 2 hour time frame. The news had videos of the rain water gushing out of the manholes just like a geyser and images of entire cars submerged under water at the viaducts. Some areas had the water gushing out of their sink drains and toilets. I was so glad that we live in the country and are attached to a septic. It has finally cleared up and we're on target for a great Memorial Day weekend.

Today I thought I'd share an image that could be used as a background for a card or a frame for a picture. I choose to use it as a frame for a picture of my mom and dad on their wedding day. Make sure you double click on the image before you save it.

I hope you have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!

Cowboys, Cowgirls and Little Warriors, A Thank You Card and Advent Garland

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week! Today I'd like to announce three new cut outs that are available on both Etsy and ebay. I've been wanting to do these for a while and I finally made the time to get them done. What do you think? Do you like my Cowboys, Cowgirls and Little Warriors? Double click on the images to see a larger view.

I'm always thrilled to see completed projects that have one of my images on them. It just tickles me. I really love sharing them and with that said I have two different projects to share with you.

Just before Easter, I sponsored an Easter Bunny Contest and the wonderfully talented Lorraine won the grand prize. The other day, I was quite surprised when this thank you card appeared in my mailbox. Isn't it just gorgeous? I think Lorraine did a wonderful job using this image from the Spring Fling Vol 1 cd. It's a beautiful card Lorraine and I thank you very much. It sure brightened my day! You can see Lorraine's other wonderful creations by clicking here Double click on the image to see a larger view.

Now the second project is an Advent Garland created by Leslie. On one side of the box is an image and on the other side it's decorated so that when all the boxes are turned it spells out Merry Christmas. She even makes them with small boxes that could hold candy or other little toys. What a neat idea and a great way to help the kids be patient for that all important day! You can visit Leslie's shop by clicking here . You can see the actual Advent Garland item by clicking here. The images Leslie used are from the Christmas Volume 6 CD. Double click on the images to see a larger view.

That's pretty much it for now. Don't forget to contact me if you need a special type of image. I do sell individual images. Just send me an email and I'll try and help you out.

Don't forget the sales that I have going on etsy and ebay . You can pick any three CDs for $22.50. That's a huge $7.47 savings! Hurry, I'll only have the sale going for a short time!

Have a great week!

Free Vintage Image and Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's out there. I sure hope you all have the best day ever!

Have you noticed the sale I have going on etsy and ebay . You can pick any three CDs for $22.50. That's a huge $7.47 savings! Hurry, I'll only have the sale going for a short time!

I'm still in the flower mode. I can't really say why, maybe it's because the winter was so nasty that Spring really seems like a blessing. Our Irises are blooming now and the Peonies have buds, so hopefully it won't be too long before they'll be open as well. But anyway... here's another flower image that caught my attention. I just love the little ditty. It seems a tad bit Irish to me so maybe I should have included it for St. Pat's day... but I think it just rings of spring! Click on the image before you save it so that you get it at the full size.

I did try my hand at decoupaging. I don't think I've ever tried this particular craft so it was a new experience for me. I had a little 5x7 wood plaque that I had purchased at a local craft store so I used it as my base.

I painted my plaque with acrylics using a sea sponge with lilac, pink and white. I thought that would look really pretty but when I added the image it was just too busy. So a little bit of sanding and then a new paint job with just plain old white... lol

I probably should have done some research on decoupaging but instead I just jumped in and started. I used a spray glue to coat the back of the image and attached it to the plaque and then started coating the whole thing with Mod Podge. Well, it didn't take long for me to see the error of my ways.... wrinkles everywhere... lol Guess I didn't glue my image down tight enough or didn't let it dry long enough. Oh Well! Lesson for the future.

After a couple of coats of Mod Podge I cut out some additional copies of the numbers, some leaves and a few lilac blossoms and added additional layers for dimension. I then coated them with the Mod Podge.

For embellies, I had a couple sparkly butterfly buttons in my stash and here's where I learned lesson number 2. The buttons had the little plastic thread rings on the back and I wanted to cut them off so the butterflies would sit flat on the image. Well they're teeny tiny buttons and I didn't want them to fly away after they were cut so I had them cupped in my hand while I was cutting. Well I bet you can figure out what my lesson is.... lol It sure hurts when the scissors include a little skin in the cutting! My palm now has a nice little oval area of skin that's missing the top layer... lol.

I had originally planned on adding some vintage string pearls around the edge of the plaque but because the image was so wrinkly I decided to save them and use some little gold beads I had in my stash. I added some vintage buttons on the corners and then glued some little lilac heart buttons to the center. I added my clock works that I'd purchased at a local craft store and my project is complete. So what do you think? Other than the wrinkles, I think it turned out pretty good.

I'd also like to share some photos I've taken of some gorgeous spring flowers. They just make me smile!

I hope you have a great Mother's Day, plumb full of smiles!

The Racetrack and New Cut Outs

Hi everyone! I hope you've had a great week. Our poor feet and legs have recovered from our whirl wind trip to DC. I do have one additional vacation shot to share with you. We've made this trek to the east coast many many times and there is always one particular place that always gets to me. Maybe because when we go through it always seems like it's raining or it's dark or it's rush hour, I call it the race track. It's a stretch of road between Charleston and Beckley West Virgina on I64. It's a beautiful area but...watch this short video and I think you'll understand.

This stretch takes about 45 minutes to get across and it is full of weaves and curves. We were lucky this time and it waited until we got into Kentucky to start raining and it wasn't rush hour or dark. The guys love to drive it and I love the scenery but it's always scary to me...... lol

Ok, that's it on vacation stuff. I would like to introduce some new cut outs that I'll be listing on etsy and ebay this week. I had a lot of fun putting these together for you. I sure hope you enjoy them and find lots and lots of uses. If you need one quicker then what I can get it posted, just send me an email.

My Cut Outs are a standard .jpg image which is sent through e-mail. I promise to have them sent within 24 hours but usually you'll have them within an hour or two of payment.

They're set up to print on a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. If you don't want to print the entire sheet, just crop out an individual image and print it. If you don't like the way your printer prints an image or if you don't have a printer, you can take the .jpg file to your local photo processing center and they can print it for you. How easy is that! And you can use them as many times as you like on any kind of project you like. Just please, don't resell the image itself.

Tribute to the Ducth

Mother's Day is coming real soon. My mom has passed so I really can't send her a card. But she absolutely loved lilacs and I've included a beautiful spray of lilacs in the flowers cut out. I think I'm going to try my hand at making a small clock and decoupaging the lilac spray on it. Happy Mother's Day Mom!
