Last week I promised you I'd show Kaiden's Easter Egg Hunting outfit. It's always so hard to figure out what to do for a boy. I have tons of sweet Easter images but somehow a cute bunny, chick or duck just didn't fit Kaiden's personality. After much searching I did find a little duck all dressed up in a military uniform carrying a gun. I didn't think the gun was quite appropriate for Easter so I got busy with Photo Shop and here's the completed layout.

Here' Kaiden showing off his Easter Egg Hunting outfit.

Here's the bunny with the posy of flowers and Kaiden's duck for you to use in any last minute Easter projects. Make sure you click on it so you get the full size image.

I have one more Kaiden picture to share with you. But first you need a little info. Kaiden is a typical boy. He is pretty stubborn and has a mind of his own. When he's doing something he's not supposed to he doesn't like the word no. He's one where he'll look at you and continue doing whatever he has a mind to do. So when he was first learning to talk and was busy with his no activities I'd swoop him up and laughingly call him my demon child. He quickly learned this phrase and started calling himself a demon child. Well he's grown out of that now but this picture brought back the demon child memories for me.

Have a great week full of smiles and don't forget to submit your contest entry

PeggyLovesVintage Easter Contest Project

This was so much fun! For the contest I thought I'd try something with fabric to show you how versatile the images are. I've only used the Fabric transfer kits once before so this was a little bit of a challenge. I thought I'd try my hand at creating an Easter Egg Hunting outfit. This would consist of a Tee-Shirt, Hat and canvas tote for the kids to use for their Easter Eggs. Here's how my completed project looks.

We had so much fun with this. She just had to do the modeling pose with her new outfit.

Since this was for Jordan everything had to be pink, her most favorite color! So off I went to find my supplies. I purchased the tee-shirt, hat and canvas tote at Hobby Lobby. I sure had good timing because everything was 50% off. Boy you can't beat that kind of a deal! I found the Fabric Transfer Kit at Walmart. It comes in two types one for light fabric and one for dark. Since everything was pink, I choose the light kit.

So now I was ready for the design phase. For the tee-shirt I wanted to wind up with an image that would cover almost the whole front of the tee-shirt. I found that if I designed it to print on the entire sheet of fabric transfer paper (8.5 x 11) it would fit perfectly and be the right size. So with the size in mind, I knew I wanted to use the bunny music above and below the bunny and include a few Easter eggs as added embellishments. Since her tee-shirt was pink, I didn't think the green music would look right so using Photo Shop I changed the green color to black. I wanted the bunny to take up most of the room on the 8.5 x 11 sheet, so I didn't include the eggs on the bunny sheet. So here's the completed tee-shirt design.

I did a test print of the design on regular paper to check that it would look right and fit correctly on the tee-shirt.

I created the eggs and used Photo Shop to color them to match the colors in the bunny. I needed two different sized bunnies for the hat and tote, so Photo Shop to the rescue again. I also decided to use a little creative license and using Photo Shop's clone utility I replaced the music with a little flower bouquet. So now I was ready to create sheet 2 with the two bunnies and all the eggs I would need. Here's how it looked.

As an after thought I decided to add her name to back of her tote. So I went hunting for a cool Easter font that would make it something special. Here's what I came up with. I found it at this site fancy fonts . Originally the font is just plain black and white but I wanted it to be different colors so using Photo Shop again I created the text and then flattened the image and colored in the different areas. I think it turned out pretty cool! Make sure you click on it so you can see it big.

So all in all it was pretty easy once the design process was completed. Things I did learn from this... Most important... don't trim your images too close on the fabric transfer sheets. The ink has a tendency to bleed a little as you're ironing it. You can see that primarily on her completed tote image. I trimmed really close so the iron picked up the ink and spread it around a little bit.. lol. Also, make sure your iron is not too hot for the fabric. It has to be really hot for the transfer to occur but you don't want it to scorch the fabric. You can see where this also occurred on the tote. lol... Poor tote! One more thing, if you're printing text remember to change the print to mirror. Otherwise it will be backward on your item. Mirror print is usually found in your print window. If it's not listed on the main window, check in the advanced area for it.

I can't make something like this for Jordan without also doing one for Kaiden so check back next week to see what his Easter Egg Hunting outfit looks like. His has a cutie Duck image.

So now if you haven't visited the other projects from the DT, DeeDee, Donna, Julie, and Sherri take a minute and see what they've created.

Have a great week full of smiles!

Free Vintage Easter Image and Shadowing Text on Images

Oh my! I'm still way behind, here it is Wednesday and I'm just now getting to my Sunday post - last Sunday that is... lol. Maybe I should try doing next Sunday's now so that I'll have it done on time (smile).

The punnies have been making their rounds here. Seems like we just go from one thing to another. The family's had the whole gammit with colds and stomach flu and the like, but I think we're on the mend... fingers and toes are all crossed!

Enough of that, have you ever had one of those DUH! moments. You know, where you've been struggling with something and you just know that you're making it harder than it is. Well, I have to admit that just recently, I had one of those DUH moments. You all know that images are pretty much my passion. I probably spend 12 hours a day working on them, loving them, creating in some way shape or form with them. And of course a big part of that process is text based, either adding sentiments or phrases to images. I've always struggled with how on earth do they get the shadowing for the text. Oh, I tried adding shadows with brushes and although it looked ok, I was never happy with it. I didn't think it looked crisp or neat. Now here comes my DUH! moment.
The other day I was working in Photo Shop and by mistake created a duplicate of a text box. Then as I was getting ready to delete it, I wound up moving it just a tad. I noticed that I could see both sets of text. DUH! So I changed the color of the text in one box and OMG! I had perfect shadows! Now how simple is that! I've been so tickled with my discovery that I've been using it like crazy. Here's one image that I've been working on for my Spring Gift Tags. You might have to click on the image to see the shadowing. Now how cool is that?

I'm not sure if this will work in all image editors but I tried it in Photo Explosion and Print Shop and it works in them as well. So, if you've been struggling with this, give it a try, just add the same text box twice and move one of them just a little. Now, if I could just figure out that other issue I'd be in seventh heaven. Maybe another happy mistake will occur!

Ok, I have another Easter image for you. This image is from the New Baby Vol 1 CD But I thought it would make an adorable First Easter card. Have you seen Donna's and Julie's blogs? Both of them have created some awesome cards also from the New Baby Vol 1 CD.

Now, I have one last thing to share with you. I've been so far behind that I'm ashamed of myself. I was visiting one of my favorite blogs and found this wonderful project which she used for Valentine's Day. But, it could also be used to create a precious Easter basket. So take a moment and visit for the love of laundry She has an awesome tutorial on how to complete the project.

I'm so excited, I have some awesome news for you. But I have to keep something for Sunday's (maybe Weds. lol) post but be sure and check back.

Have a great week (what's left of it that is) plumb full of smiles!
